Recruitment Posters
Posters were a staple element in UPS recruitment strategies.
Recruiters handed them out as flyers to prospective employees at job fairs,
and distributed them at employment and career centers throughout New England.
Recruitment posters were used to help recruit various positions at UPS,
including Part-Time Package Handlers, Part-Time Supervisors, Mechanics, Tractor Trailer Drivers,
Package Car Drivers and Driver Helpers.
Recruiters also posted flyers in key locations at several college campuses. UPS enticed students
with an impressive benefits package which included the UPS Earn & Learn tuition assistance program.
Holiday Season Recruitment Campaign
Referral Card for Employees
During peak hiring season, UPS needed to fill thousands of seasonal driver helper positions.
I designed a referral card that was distributed to UPS employees to aid the recruitment process.
By tapping into each employee's personal network, UPS exponentially increased its recruiter core.
UPS Employees would submit filled out cards to designated drop boxes designed for the program, while a
tear-off portion provided applicants with instructions to apply online while doubling as a way to track
which employees provided referrals. In some facilities, UPS employees who referred applicants would receive
referral bonuses when their aplicants were successfully hired.
Postcard to Past Seasonal Driver Helpers
Another recruitment tool to hire driver helpers was a post card that was mailed to prior seasonal driver helpers.
This helped UPS to rehire past seasonal employees looking for extra holiday cash in hard to recruit areas.
Business Card Handout
Sometimes a box of recruitment flyers is too bulky to be effective, so business card sized handouts were developed.
Recruiters could now effectively distribute at a networking event with a manageable piece convenient for potential applicants to take with them.
Newspaper Advertising
Newspaper advertising was one of the most effective ways to draw potential employees.
Running a high frequency of ads throughout the year proved to be successful in keeping UPS job opportunities
highly visible to the general public on a weekly basis throughout New England.
